Kia ora — I’m Shonikwa, and alongside my partner Michael, we’re the duo behind Little Wayfinders.

I grew up in Australia from the age of 9, and while I always knew I was Māori, I didn’t always feel connected to what that really meant. It wasn’t until I returned to Aotearoa in my twenties that I truly started to explore my whakapapa, my reo, and my place in te ao Māori.

Now living back in Australia, I carry that journey with me — and Little Wayfinders was created to help others do the same. Whether you’re raising tamariki away from home, reconnecting with your roots, or just starting your journey, our kaupapa is here to support you.

Together, Michael and I design fun, culturally rich resources that help tamariki and whānau explore Māori stories, places, and identity in a playful, accessible way. Everything we make is built with aroha, intention, and a deep pride in who we are.
